This project involved a complete rebuild of the original 4-bedroom family home.  With only the front façade left standing our team set about to build the new home consisting of a reconfiguration of living spaces and bedrooms. The most significant part of the build was the rear extension consisting of a modern kitchen, living, dining area, as well as a large family bathroom, laundry and adjoining outdoor entertaining area.

One of the design challenges was the enormous span required for the rear extension, a huge 20m by 12m in one structure. It was an engineering triumph to achieve this. The steel needed to achieve this dramatic design was cleverly concealed within the architectural design of the ceiling as well as recycled timber beams.

The cedar cladded saw-tooth roof is the defining architectural element of this family home. The cedar detailing creates a warmth and connection to the natural environment. The cedar detailing was replicated in other design elements across the exterior and harmonises with carefully appointed stonework.
